| The following is a brief and simplistic overview of the way of the Celts. In the 6th century BC there were Celtic tribal units that followed a particular lifestyle. There were widespread settlements across Europe and beyond. Shamanism is more of a spiritual practice than a formal religion. There are spiritual journey's to gain insight or healing. The early Shamans were druids, poets and seers. Their role was later assumed by clerics after the adoption of Christianity. This practice is thought to be romantic and impractical in today's world. In assisting someone it didn't matter what their personal beliefs were because the healing spirits would appear in a form most acceptable to the person who needed the help. They believe that the earth remembers all and is witness to history. Trees are considered sacred and thought of as repositories of memory, lore and spiritual beings. A primary goal is to seek out one's animal helper. (Many of the Saints's are associated with animals and in this case thought of as gods and goddesses.) Ancestor's are revered and play a central role in tradition. Because of our times this is almost absent from our culture. These seers, poets and druids are the human guardians of the memory. Some are called to this-others are chosen. All shamans are potentially able to take form in another dimension. These people have to have the knowledge of an encyclopedia, including all aspects of wisdom, art and science. They act as healers, councilors, philosophers, diviners, and magicians. In the past they were held in the highest regard and respect much like that of a king. Many legends and heroic tales survive to this day as a result of the oral tradition of the Celts. The Cauldron of Warming maintains the body-if inverted the 'subject' would be very ill or dead. If the liquid inside were discolored, bad smelling, or corroding the cauldron itself it would indicate body sickness. The Cauldron of Vocation when inverted indicates a lack of 'spark' or interest. If inverted for a long time the soul can fragment and be lost. This cauldron is very sensitive, The Cauldron of Knowledge capacity seems to be dependent on the position of the Cauldron of Vocation. The Nine Gifts of the Cauldron Poetry, sings and is filled with song Reflection, maintains and is maintained Meditation, preserves and is made strong Lore, promotes and is enlarged Great knowledge, gives and is replenished Intelligence, arranges and receives arrangement Understanding, nourishes and is given life Wisdom, ennobles and is exalted |
