The legend says that an old women was to be drowned by a king. To spare her she rewarded him with a spell. He should kiss a stone on the castle's top and he would be gifted with words that would win all. However the word was introduced in the dictionary at a much later date. The word Blarney has come to mean the ability to influence and coax with words.
The Blarney Stone is found within the walls of the Blarney Castle Tower. As the legend says if you kiss the stone you will be blessed with the gift of persuasive eloquence otherwise known as blarney. Thousands flock there every year to kiss the stone. |
